Homeschool

Classroom Tour!

A few people have asked me what our homeschool classroom looks like and I figured I’d go ahead and share some photos (while it’s somewhat cleaned up). I’m sure things will change as time moves on and we learn what we like and don’t like. But for now, here is our basement space:

That desk is made from our old crib… I created a separate post with some more detail here… pop on over and see it! I swear, putting that old crib back together made me feel alllllll the feels. L & R both slept in that crib. There were also so many long, sleepless nights with me wondering why in the world they WOULDN’T sleep in that crib. The teeth marks were there to prove it! I’m so glad we found another use for it, it makes my momma heart so happy!

Our morning circle board is another favorite of mine! It started out looking like the picture on the right… this was a free find off a swap page on Facebook. A little paint, a lot of love and an unreasonable amount of laminating later and we have our circle time board! Each morning, we will go through the calendar (day, month, year) as well as the seasons/weather. Each week, we will shift our focus… the curriculum we chose to guide us focuses on one letter each week. We added numbers, shapes, colors, countries and sight words to our list of things to study! I’m super excited about our country studies. I think I’m going to learn as much as they do – geography is NOT my strong suit!

I’m also very excited about our weekly learning trays. There will be 4 trays available each week for independent work or time when someone completes a task before the other person and needs something to do while waiting. These will be rotated each week to keep things interesting and exciting for the girls. Some of these things are things we already had around the house and some are purchases I made when we decided to homeschool such as this geoboard and this super cool math balance game. I can’t lie, I had to test out both of these before the girls could use them because they looked fun even to me!

Aside from these bigger items, we have lots and lots of storage and the world’s cutest rug (we got this one in the larger size). As much as it hurt my heart to move my craft room into the storage room haphazardly, I’m pretty darn happy with how the homeschool room looks in that space!

Keep following along! I’m looking forward to sharing our adventures with you! See you soon
